The very first title in the Mega Man Battle Network series was released in March of 2001 in Japan, October in North America, and November in Europe, and it was a spin-off title that introduced role-playing elements that really made it stand out, for all the good reasons, from the main series.

This is where things get interesting, since the last time few times Capcom has celebrated a Mega Man anniversary, they have released collections that included most of the main titles; all games that before their respective Legacy Collection editions(classic Mega Man and Mega Man X) were quite difficult to find.
Capcom seeking partneres for the Mega Man Battle Network's 20th anniversary can only mean that they will be releasing commemorative goods and not a collection, but the fact that they have even acknowledging its existence is enough to believe that a Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection could soon become a reality.
