Sweden-based Minecraft developer Mojang and online payment company Skrill announced a new partnership this week that will add international payment options for players. Skrill is the company behind Moneybookers, one of Europe's leading online payment systems, and a major worldwide digital wallet provider, with over 19 million account holders. "The global success of Minecraft even took us by surprise; we are committed to meeting the demands of the fans from across the world who want to download the game and start building," said Daniel Kaplan, business developer at Mojang. "By partnering with Skrill we are able to accept payments from much further a field and take the game to new territories across the world by offering gamers numerous ways to pay for the game," he added. Online "sandbox" building game Minecraft originally launched in 2009, and currently has around 12 million registered users, with over 3 million players who have bought the game.
