New Console Digital Developer Play Eternal Founded In Philly

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is the home of a new independent game development studio called Play Eternal. It claims to be the first high-end digital console game developer of its kind in Philly, and plans to focus on the action/adventure genre. The studio was founded by four partners: Louis Tranchitella, Brandon Van Slyke, Albert Vazquez, and Michael Worth. Vazquez and Van Slyke were lead combat designer and combat engineer, respectively, on Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 at Activision's Vicarious Visions. Other studio members have worked on projects at companies like Obsidian Entertainment, Gearbox Software, Blue Fang Games, Nickelodeon, and CDV Software Entertainment, according to Play Eternal's official announcement. Play Eternal will focus on "AAA-quality" console digital download titles, it says, and it's already begun production on its first one using Trinigy's Vision Engine as platform of choice. Van Slyke, who will serve as the company's chief creative officer, says he's "excited about the possibilities the space offers." "The talent we've been able to attract is perfectly aligned to develop highly polished and engaging games for digital distribution to the core audience," he adds.
