New Nintendo Direct Slated For SWITCH 2 Launch Week - RUMOR

It should come as no surprise that rumors are boiling up about the possible release of a new Nintendo Direct as we march ever closer to the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 in less than two weeks. While unconfirmed, it's expected that this new Direct will focus on games heading to the system.

It's also possible to be more tied to another attempt at pushing the console's sales numbers, as while it will be sucessful, it's hard to say if it will reach the same level of popularity as the original Switch long-term, as its novelty of a system you can take on the go is long gone and its steep price and myriad of controversies isn't doing it any favors.

Now, of course, the Switch 2 is very much getting pre-order sales no matter what, with stocks running out fast thanks to Nintendo reportedly underestimating how many units to produce before things went into the pre-order stage.

Of course, so far, Nintendo hasn't made any comments about a new Direct, but frankly, we'll probably know more when the month ticks over, probably at a random time for them as Nintendo really likes to post about this type of stuff at random times, just look at the announcement of the Switch 2's development before the official reveal.

Now, taking this rumor at face value, it makes sense that Nintendo would drop a new Direct shortly after the release of a new console. Additionally, they already enjoy dropping Directs in June, anyway. It's a common month for the Japanese console maker to make big announcements about their games, and with this being the launch month of the Switch 2, it makes it even more of an important month this time around.

Odds are, if the rumor is true, we'll likely see some more game reveals, perhaps more first-party games that will give us more insight into their variable pricing model. Though, it's more likely to be third-party games or some sort of performance showcase of the system. Whatever the rumored Nintendo Direct ends up being, it's sure to ruffle some feathers considering the less-than-favorable decisions Nintendo has pushed forward.

Regardless, the Switch 2 releases on June 5, though, we wouldn't hold our breath in getting a system on launch, as we all know how system launches go, and this is even bigger considering it's Nintendo's first new console since 2017.
