Next-gen Fable won’t be an MMO, though it may have some online elements

Yesterday, Microsoft revealed that Playground Games is working on a new Fable game. And, apparently a new rumor surfaced, suggesting that this Fable game will be an MMO. However two industry insiders have debunked this rumor, claiming that the next Fable game won’t be an MMO.

Now while Fable won’t be an MMO, this does not mean that it may not have any online elements. Klobrille, who previously hinted at Fable being announced at Microsoft’s event, hints at some online elements. According to him, this online elements may be similar to those of Forza Horizon 4.

Fable is an open-world Action-RPG. People really need to stop with this MMO nonsense. Even if there potentially will be online interactions similar to FH4, it’s not an MMO.

Windows Central’s tech writer, Jez, also claims that the new Fable game won’t be an MMO.

Can confirm rumours of Fable being an "MMO" are false btw.

MMO stands for Massively Multiplayer Online. In other words, Fable won’t be an MMORPG, similar to – let’s say – WoW, Final Fantasy 14 or Black Desert Online. However, this does not mean that the game may not have some online elements.

Fable is in a really early stage of development, so we really don’t know much about it. During its first-party showcase event, Microsoft presented a CG trailer for it. So yeah, don’t expect to be playing it anytime soon.
