Nintendo 3DS Leads Japanese Hardware Charts, Sells 200,000 During First Full Week

The Nintendo 3DS continued to lead Japanese hardware sales for the week ended March 6, selling more than all other platforms combined, reports tracking firm Media Create. In its first full week since launch, the Nintendo 3DS sold 209,623 units, down from launch weekend sales of 374,764 units, with titles such as Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle and Nintendogs + Cats leading the charge as the top selling games on the platform. The PSP saw a healthy sales boost this week, jumping from 47,955 units sold to 76,246 units sold, which coincides with the release of Square Enix's platform-exclusive Dissidia: 012 Duodecim Final Fantasy. Sales of other platforms remained largely consistent from last week, leaving the overall hardware rankings unchanged. Below are the full sales rankings from Media Create for the week ended March 6, 2011. (The second chart lumps together sales of all models in a given line of hardware.
