Newsbrief: Nintendo’s 3DS console family has now surpassed 60 million in worldwide sales, according to a company statement released in a new NPD report picked up by IGN.

At the end of March 3DS sales stood at 58.85 million, meaning another 1.15 million consoles have been sold in just over two months.

Nintendo suggests the recent 2DS price drop helped the console glide past the 60 million mark.

“May was a milestone month for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Having recently passed 60 million units worldwide, the current generation's top-selling dedicated gaming platform welcomed an entirely new audience with a lower suggested price of $79.99 for the Nintendo 2DS system.”
