Newsbrief: Nintendo is looking to capitalize on the popularity of Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the Nintendo 3DS, by launching a crossover app for its Wii U console. The 3DS game has sold more than 4.5 million copies worldwide, and provided a notable sales boost for the 3DS hardware. With sales of the Wii U console flagging behind, the launch of the new Animal Crossing Plaza application is aimed at bringing Animal Crossing fans over to the Wii U. The app, which is free to download starting today, allows New Leaf owners to interact with each other and exchange information. Players can import images from the 3DS game, and share custom design QR code patterns.
