Miitomo, Nintendo's first smartphone app, has hit number one in the top free download charts on iOS in the U.S., in less than 24 hours.

That means it could rack up more than 200,000 downloads, according to market-tracking firm Sensor Tower, VentureBeat reports

It took the app close to two days to top the charts in Japan when it launched.

The app hit 1 million users three days after its Japanese launch, pushing the company's stock up -- it had taken a beating due to its delayed entry into the mobile space, in the view of the market.

As of this writing, Miitomo has fallen to number 32 on the Japanese free charts -- two weeks after launch -- and number 393 top-grossing, according to App Annie

The company has plans to release several more smartphone apps in its current fiscal year, ending March 2017.
