No, The UNCHARTED Live-Action Movie Has Not Begun Filming; Not Yet, At Least

The Uncharted live-action film adaptation has been in development for so long that it isn't even funny any more.

Development has been particularly troublesome, as the studio struggled to cast the actors that would play Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan

Just recently, the Uncharted movie finally found its director in Ruben Fleischer(Zombie Land, Venom), and the roles of Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan have gone to actor Tom Holland(Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Endgame) and Mark Wahlberg(The Fighter, Transformers: The Last Knight), and we know that it is expected to release in theatres in July of next year.

Now that the movie has its lead actors and has finally found a diretor, one would expect the movie to begin filming soon.

In fact, earlier today Tom Holland shared a post on his Instagram account, which suggested that he was on the film's set, and that the Uncharted live-action movie had finally begun filming.

However, we may have some sour news for those who have been anticipating the live-action Uncharted movie, and got excited for Holland's post as Sony Pictures Entertainment has officially confirmed, in an email sent to GamesRadar+, that filming has not begun just yet.

The good news is that Sony has revealed that the film's crew has been preparing and are currently "hoping to start [shooting] soon," although the studio's statement sounds rather vague. With all that said, it seems that everything is going as planned, and the Uncharted movie will likely be able to release in theatres in July of next year.
