California-based hardware startup Nod Labs has reaped $13.5 million in investment to continue developing new hardware and software as it debuts its Nod Backspin (pictured), a motion-sensitive gamepad billed as a cross-platform VR controller.

Though relatively young, the startup has already released a Bluetooth motion controller marketed to VR enthusiasts: the Nod Gesture Ring. The new Backspin controller is designed to play nice with Windows, Mac OS X, Android and iOS across VR system like Gear VR, Oculus VR, and Razer's open-source OSVR platform
