Oculus has brought in a new COO as it looks to steady the ship following the Rift's shaky launch.

Former Fitbit COO, Hans Hartmann, is the person stepping up to the plate, and, as highlighted in a tweet from Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe, brings "decades of hardware, manufacturing and supply chain experience to Oculus."

Since launching its Rift virtual reality headset on March 28, Oculus has struggled to meet consumer expectations, with "component shortages" initially forcing the manufacturer to push back shipping dates

At the time, Oculus attempted to appease those affected by offering free shipping on all pre-orders, however, a week later, shipping dates were being pushed back yet again

Later this month, Oculus will look to get the headset into the hands of potential buyers by sending out demo and retail units to 48 Best Buy stores.
