Newsbrief: New media reports suggest that the consumer version of the Oculus Rift VR hardware may be further along than previously thought, with a public beta version launching as early as next summer. According to TechRadar and VRFocus, "multiple sources with knowledge of the matter" have said that Oculus is planning a Google Glass-style rollout, whereby a very limited number of beta hardware will be sold to the public. Oculus is apparently looking to gauge the reaction of consumers and retailers before going ahead with the full consumer launch. The company has previously said that it is targeting a price range of around $200-400 for the consumer model. There are currently at least 100,000 Oculus dev kits already in the hands of developers.
