Oculus' Touch controller won't be shipping alongside its Rift virtual reality headset as originally thought.

Oculus explained that it needs more time with the tech before release, and as a result will now ship Touch in the second half of 2016.

"On Touch hardware, we’ve made significant advances in ergonomics, and we’re implementing many changes that make Touch even more comfortable, reliable, and natural. We’re also implementing changes that improve hand pose recognition," said Oculus via a blog post.

"We’re also outputting larger numbers of pre-production runs, which means we can get a lot more Touch hardware in the hands of developers who need it."

Despite the delay with Touch, Oculus confirmed that the Rift remains on schedule and will ship in Q1.

Rift pre-orders will be launching soon, while Touch pre-orders will also open a few months prior to launch.
