Newsbrief: Samarion S.E., an investor in online games, has taken over one of Europe's biggest online game companies Gamigo (Jagged Alliance Online) from Axelrod Springer AG. Terms for the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 2001, Gamigo publishes and operates a wide range of online titles, from free-to-play MMORPGs to browser-based games. Newspaper publisher Axelrod Springer AG purchased a majority stake in the German company four years ago, but now it wants to focus on the non-gaming aspects of its digital business. Gamigo's management says that, under Samarion S.E., the company wants to take advantage of opportunities brought about by consolidation in the online games market. The publisher believes this ownership transfer is an important step toward that future.
