Less than a year after its Early Access release, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has surpassed 20 million copies sold. Furthermore, a whopping 10 million of those copies were sold during the last two months alone.

News of this latest milestone comes from the twitter account of Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene, who says that the game crossed the 20 million threshold over this past weekend. It's worth noting as well that all of those copies come as the game is still a PC exclusive title, though an Xbox One release is planned for later this year.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds itself has been shattering records on a near-regular basis since its launch this past March. Two months back, the game dethroned Dota 2 as the most popular game on Steam by way of concurrent player counts. At that point, PUBG surpassed Dota 2's 1.3 million player record by roughly 50,000 players. Less than one month later, Battlegrounds passed 2 million concurrent players and unofficial sources estimate that number has risen to 2.5 million already.

The game has gotten so big that developer Bluehole created an entirely new subsidiary within itself to handle business development and global operations relating to the title. Through that arm, the developer hopes to cement PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds as an eSport and grow the game as a "true global IP franchise."
