PopCap Reveals Popcorn Dragon Coming To iOS Devices

Plants vs Zombies developer PopCap has revealed Popcorn Dragon, its next game for iOS devices, which will launch sometime this winter. Announcing the game at an event in New York City this week, and as reported by technology website Wired, the company explained that players will be moving a dragon around the touch-screen, breathing fire to pop kernels of corn. The backdrop for each level is based on a movie genre with the dragon in a starring role, and as you move around trying to eat the popcorn, enemies float around trying to impede your progress by stunning you. Upgrades are also available to help boost your score and grow your dragon's length, and can be purchased using cinema tickets in-game. Earlier this week at GDC Online, PopCap co-founder John Vechey discussed the company's evolution into its complex, always-on social gaming environment. He explained that there are many important lessons from previous transitions in the company's history that are helping shape the new PopCap.
