The latest system software update for Sony's PlayStation 3 automates functionality related to game saves and its Trophies system, but only for paid PlayStation Plus subscribers. The update allows subscribers to automatically sync their Trophies online. Normally, Trophies (the PS3's equivalent of an Achievements system) are stored locally until users manually upload them. Additionally, users can now automate save games to be backed up online; in the past, this functionality also had to be triggered manually. The update continues Sony's trend of adding operating system functionality that can only be used by paid subscribers.
