Los Angeles ABC affiliate KABC has reported that Oculus VR co-founder Andrew Scott Reisse was struck and killed while crossing the street during a car chase in Santa Ana, California. According to the report, Reisse was an innocent bystander struck by a car driven by gang members fleeing police. KABC has quoted a statement released by Oculus VR: "Andrew was a brilliant computer graphics engineer, an avid photographer and hiker who loved nature, a true loyal friend, and a founding member of our close-knit Oculus family. Andrew's contributions span far and wide in the video game industry. His code is embedded in thousands of games played by millions of people around the world. Words can not express how sorely he will be missed or how deeply our sympathy runs for his family." The suspect driving the car at the time of the accident has been arrested, KABC reports. Update: The Oculus team has confirmed the death of Reisse, stating in a blog post, "Andrew was taken from us long before his time. Words cannot express how sorely he will be missed or how deeply our sympathy runs for his family."
