Sony is looking to release an Android tablet by the end of summer this year, according to media reports. As reported by Japanese newspaper Nikkei, and translated by Bloomberg, Sony CEO Howard Stringer said that the release of a Sony Android tablet is planned for later this year. He noted that the tablet will run Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb software, and will be released to the U.S. market first, followed by other regions. It is unclear whether the tablet is PlayStation-related or not. Recent reports suggested that Sony is indeed working on a 9.4-inch display tablet device codenamed "S1". The tablet is set to include the PlayStation Suite framework, the Qriocity music and video service, and the Honeycomb operating system. The device will also come pre-loaded with PlayStation One titles, and allow for on-demand music, games and video streaming. The upcoming NGP handheld will also support PlayStation Suite, as does Sony Ericsson's Android-based Xperia Play phone. The 'PlayStation Phone' has been released in around a dozen countries, but is yet to see a U.S. release.
