Riot Games has announced that it plans to donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of an upcoming League of Legends skin to charity, noting specifically that the cash will support charities in the region of the donator.

Skin-driven charity initiatives like this can be a powerful way for major game developers to support communities or charitable causes. Just recently, Overwatch dev Blizzard raised $10 million for Breast Cancer Research Foundation through sales of its Pink Mercy skin

Riot has done a similar drive in the past as well by donating a quarter of the sales for last year’s Championship Ashe skin to charities selected on by the League of Legends community.

The skin “Dark Star Cho’Gath” was created in part by a League of Legends fan name Bryan through the Make-A-Wish Foundation and will be sold from June 21 to July 20, tentatively for the price of 1350 “Riot Points” (roughly $10). During that time, all money brought in from sales of the skin will be donated to yet-unnamed charities around the world.
