The Interactive Games and Media branch of the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) has published the first edition of the Journal of Game Design & Development Education, a collection of games-related research and articles. Published works in the Journal's premiere edition include "Teaching Students to Make Alternative Game Controllers," "Skins: Designing Games with First Nations Youth," and "Challenges and Opportunities in the Design of Game Programming Classes for a Traditional Computer Science Curriculum." The publication follows RIT's recent recognition by the Princeton Review for offering the nation's fourth-best graduate program and the ninth-best undergraduate program in game design studies. "We're excited to provide the community of game design and development educators with a new mechanism to learn about the latest research and developments in our field,” said Stephen Jacobs, editor-in-chief of the Journal and an associate professor of interactive games and media at RIT. "It includes a strong set of articles and an excellent editorial board. We're already soliciting new contributions and will publish at least once a year at the Game Developers Conference." The full text of the Journal is available online and in .pdf format at http://gameeducationjournal.org. Print editions will be available at a later date.
