Despite the impending release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X later this year, Saints Row: The Third could be headed to current-gen systems.
Spotted by Eurogamer, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has listed Saints Row: The Third Remastered for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. No release date was mentioned.
Developed by Volition and published by THQ, Saints Row: The Third was originally released in 2011 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Similar in nature to Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto, the action-adventure title ramps up the zaniness with its over-the-top action and weaponry, the most infamous being a giant sex toy bat.
Upon release, the game was praised for its customization options and fun gameplay.
It introduced the city of Steelport, in which the goal was for the player to help lead the Third Street Saints gang to overtake the other rival gangs — the Morningstar, Luchadores, and Deckers — in the city turf war.
Saints Row: The Third
A port for Saints Row: The Third was released for Nintendo Switch in May 2019. THQ Nordic has yet to officially announce the remaster, but the ESRB rating is a good indication it is on the way. Perhaps an announcement was set for E3 this summer before the event was canceled. A port of Saints Row: The Third would make sense to build hype leading towards the announcement of the next mainline Saints Row game.
