Samantha Ryan has joined Electronic Arts as senior vice president and general manager of its mobile business -- replacing longtime EA exec Frank Gibeau, who left the company in May.

The company's mobile division has recently seen growth, as have its digital game revenues.

Ryan spent a number of years at Shadow of Mordor developer Monolith Productions, ultimately as its president, and was most recently senior vice president of production and development at Warner Bros. Interactive, its parent company.

At Monolith, Ryan produced cult-classic No One Lives Forever, and recounted her history in the game industry in a 2009 speech you can read about on Gamasutra.

This isn't Electronic Arts' only recent, significant hire of female leadership in recent weeks; Ubisoft vet Jade Raymond has been tapped to found a new EA studio in Montreal to collaborate on the Mass Effect franchise.
