Scoreloop Announces Go Android Partnership For iOS Devs

One day after OpenFeint and The9 revealed plans to fund mobile ports to Android devices, social gaming platform Scoreloop has announced a similar "Go Android" program for iOS developers. Scoreloop's program is designed to help iOS developers bring their popular games to Android, promising to provide market knowledge and help developer partners "reach a new audience without the time and resourcing hassle that comes along with porting." In addition to funding projects, the program is meant to make the porting process "as simple and pain-free as possible," the company said. Scoreloop has been working on "Go Android" since January and has already helped port two iOS games, Geared and Toobz, which release next week. To participate in the program, developers are invited to show how they would use Scoreloop's social features in their apps. The cross-platform mobile social network offers various features like leaderboards, messaging, achievements, and in-app microtransactions. Yesterday, rival cross-platform mobile social gaming network OpenFeint announced a comparable program with Chinese online gaming company The9 to fund and assist mobile developers in porting their titles to Android devices. "We launched the 'Go Android' Program earlier this year to help developers who don't have the time to deal with the development, legal, admin and market experience necessary to launch on a new platform," says Scoreloop CEO Marc Gumpinger. Gumpinger continues, "We're providing real value for developers, not just funds. Navigating the Android ecosystem isn't a simple task and we want to be there for developers through the whole process."
