It's that time again: The annual SIGGRAPH computer graphics conference is nigh, and that means conference organizers have released a video preview (embedded above) of some of the technical papers that will be presented at SIGGRAPH 2016 in Anaheim this July.

What's interesting here is that the Technical Papers program often shines light on where the computer graphics industry -- and thus, by association, the game industry -- is headed by showcasing some of the interesting technical research being done in the field.

The papers being presented this year encompass everything from "Rig Animation with a Tangible and Modular Input Device" to "Real-Time Polygonal Light-Shading with Linearly Transformed Cosines", and potentially hold interesting implications for the future of game development.

For more details on the event, check out the SIGGRAPH 2016 website. You can also peruse papers presented at prior SIGGRAPH events via the SIGGRAPH conference content hub.
