Sega Officially Introduces Players To The All-New Fake Streaming Service EGGMAN PIRATE TV; Because Why Not

Sonic the Hedgehog has had a long history with memes. Even before social media became a thing, Sega was using Sonic to troll Nintendo during the 16-bit console wars, and that edgy attitude has always been part of the series starring the Blue Hedgehog.

These days, however, absolutely nothing has changed in this regard. Sega has kept embracing meme culture to the point most people following Sonic the Hedgehog accounts on social media — the official Twitter account, very much in particular — are mostly following it for the memes.

What's even more fascinating is the fact Sega not only trolls other video game companies, but they are the first to troll themselves. Some of the most infamous Sonic the Hedgehog memes on the internet have actually come from their official accounts — which goes to show how self-aware they are as a company.

Today, Sega has, yet again, outdone themselves by releasing a trailer for an all-new, and very fake streaming service called Eggmant Pirate TV — which is expected to release never, but we'll still play along. According to the trailer, customers can subscribe to the service by paying the very low and affordable daily price of 100 rings; it's a real steal!

Interestingly enough, the trailer for this fake service does sound relatively appealing to some degree, since it's supposed to stream every cutscene seen in Sonic the Hedgehog video games, and even includes a Classic TV mode that gives viewers access to cutscenes from 16-bit Sonic games; no ads, either, although that could cost extra.

Again, this trailer for Eggman Pirate TV just shows the lengths the people over at Sonic the Hedgehog PR are willing to go in order to keep their staple meme/troll culture alive, and we should all thank and celebrate them for this.
