Sega has opened a new development and debugging studio in Sapporo, Japan.

The company announced the move in a press release (via Gematsu), and said the studio will help it better serve an increasingly global video game market.

Sega Sapporo Studio will be led by company veteran Takaya Segawa, who has been with the Japanese outfit since 1992 and has worked on a range of titles including Yakyuu Tsuku!! Saka Tsuku, and Phantasy Star Online 2.

The Sapporo studio will bolster its ranks by hiring locally while also providing opportunities for existing Sega employees.
