Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was released in March of 2019, and it immediately became one of the most talked-about video games of this generation of consoles. The game was so well-received by critics, that it was nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards; an award that ended up winning.
As of August of 2019, Activision and FromSoftware's critically acclaimed title was revealed to have sold a very impressive 3.8 million copies since launch, which is actually quite a feat considering that this was a brand-new intellectual property; one that received some criticism early on, when it was revealed not to be a new entry in the Tenchu series.
After winning the Game of the Year award in December, however, not much about Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has been revealed. That changed just yesterday, actually, when it was revealed that new content will be added to the game in October; completely free of charge, mind you.
Activision's official Blog has also revealed that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has managed to sell over an overwhelming 5 million copies since its original launch in March of 2019. Unfortunately, the developer doesn't give us the exact number of units sold, or on which platform it sold better.
Regardless, this is some great news for the new series, and hopefully this will prompt the developers to work on a sequel to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice; fans will receive it with arms wide open.
In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice you are the “one-armed wolf”, a disgraced and disfigured warrior rescued from the brink of death. Bound to protect a young lord who is the descendant of an ancient bloodline, you become the target of many vicious enemies, including the dangerous Ashina clan.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
