Newsbrief: When it was successfully funded on July 18, the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter became one of the most successful video game campaigns of all time, with 69,320 backers pledging $6,333,296.

Yet, despite raising a record-breaking amount, Yu Suzuki and Ys Net are now trying to raise even more cash through PayPal.

According to a Kickstarter update, the team have decided to open up a three month “slacker backer" period, which will end on December 31, to let fans who didn’t get the chance to pledge through Kickstarter donate money and earn rewards via PayPal.

Any additional cash raised will be put towards existing stretch goals, with the team emphasizing that “the game will be completed as promised with the use of the funding collected on Kickstarter.”
