SOE reveals the winner of the 5th annual G.I.R.L. scholarship

Sony Online Entertainment on Tuesday announced that Quinne Larsen, a student at the California Institute of the Arts, as been chosen as the winner of the 5th annual Gamers In Real Life Scholarship, and will receive $10,000 to use toward her tuition and other educational expenses. For this latest G.I.R.L. competition, entrants were asked to submit two pieces of original concept art inspired by SOE titles PlanetSide 2 or EverQuest II, as well as an essay describing their views on women in the game industry. In addition to her new scholarship, Larsen has earned a 10-week internship at SOE's headquarters in San Diego, where she will work on one of its major releases. SOE's GIRL scholarship program has been running since 2008, and strives to encourage women to pursue careers in video game development and design.
