At E3 on Monday, Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton said the company’s motion controller PlayStation Move has sold 8.8 million copies worldwide, with new Move games on the way. Sony said in April that the PlayStation Move had sold 8 million units worldwide. The controller launched in September last year. Tretton didn't specify if this latest figure is sold to retailers or sold-through to consumers, but it still shows continuing uptake and support of Sony's motion control in the face of Microsoft's much-hyped Kinect sensor for Xbox 360. Sony also showed off a number of new Move-supported games, including a demo by L.A. Lakers star Kobe Bryant, who helped exhibit “NBA On The Move” for 2K Sports’ October release, NBA 2K12. The new feature is essentially a point and click mode that utilizes Move for new player accessibility. “Anyone can pick up and play. And when we say anyone can pick up can play, we mean it,” said Tretton. The company also debuted Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest, a fantasy action game from Zindagi, the studio behind Sports Champions. Later in the conference, Irrational Game's Ken Levine announced that the company's BioShock Infinite will include support for the PlayStation Move, and added that the company is developing a title for NGP. In addition, Paramount will release a new Move-enabled title based on Star Trek.
