Sony's PlayStation Portable will gain the ability to play WiFi-streamed music from Sony's Qriocity-powered Music Unlimited service starting April 14, following the service's American and Australian launch in February. The cloud-based service, first announced last September, already lets subscribers stream a personalized selection of over 7 million songs through a PlayStation 3 as well as certain Bravia TVs, Vaio PCs and Sony Blu-ray players, with support for further Sony devices and Android-powered portables to be announced soon. New subscribers can try out the service free for 30 days before signing up for plans costing anywhere from $3.99 to $9.99 per month. Music Unlimited support will help the aging PSP differentiate itself from Nintendo's new 3DS portable ahead of Sony's upcoming Next Generation Portable, which is expected to launch in some regions before the end of the year. Software and hardware sales for Sony's current portable continue to fall in the American video game market, but the system is still going strong in Japan, where it is currently outselling the 3DS. Earlier today, Sony cut the price of the PSP in Europe nearly 25 percent to €129.99 ($187), following a similar price cut in the U.S. in February.
