Splash Damage vets building white-label online services suite

Newsbrief: Several veterans from Brink developer Splash Damage have formed Fireteam, a start-up building a white-label online services suite that companies will be able to integrate into their mobile, console, and PC games. The platform offers support for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. It allows developers to add features like matchmaking, friends lists, player stats, in-game stores, and "transmedia connectivity across other devices" to their online titles. Fireteam notes that the suite's APIs plug into popular gaming engines like Unreal and Unity. It also points out that because the platform is a white label product, publishers and developers will be able to retain their own community while using the service. The London-based company was formed last year by former Splash Damage studio director Stephen Gaffney (CEO at Fireteam), technical director Arnout van Meer (CTO), and IT manager Benjamin Hopkinson (Infrastructure, Support, and Operations head).
