Today we have some great news for fans of the Star Wars series, as Electronic Arts and Motive Studios' upcoming Star Wars: Squadrons has been confirmed to not only release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but also on its respective next-gen counterparts.
That's right, Star Wars: Squadrons Director Ian S. Frazier himself confirmed that the game will also become available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, although the information also comes with some slightly disappointing news, as it's also been confirmed that players won't be able to upgrade the game if they've previously purchased it for the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
Long story short, those who are planning on purchasing a next-gen console and are also excited to play Star Wars: Squadrons will have to either wait until their preferred next-gen console is released so they can play the enhanced version of the game, purchase the game for their current-gen console, or purchase the game for both their current and next-gen consoles.
Electronic Arts had previously revealed that upgrading some of their games for next-gen consoles, completely free of charge, would be possible, but unfortunately this won't be the case with Star Wars: Squadrons. While this is disappointing, players shouldn't really expect every game to be upgradable to next-gen consoles.
Star Wars: Squadrons is due out on Friday the 2nd of October, so those planning to purchase a next-gen console at launch sshould probably wait until the console releases first in order to get the full next-gen experience out of the game.
