Star Wars: The Old Republic goes free for this weekend

EA is offering a free trial of its latest MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic this weekend, with players able to participate in a limited pass for the game for the next several days. Star Wars: The Old Republic launched in December last year, and saw over 1 million players just three days after release. EA said last month that the game now has over 1.7 million subscribers. The company's production director Dallas Dickinson said to Gamasutra that the launch went "really, really well. I think sort of surprisingly smoothly." From tomorrow (March 15) to March 19, the game will be free, with non-paying players able to download and join the game with a Weekend Pass. There will be a number of restrictions for these players. Weekend Pass players will not be able to exceed level 15 with any character, and the areas of the games in which they can play will also be restricted. Weekend Pass players will also not be able to use general, trade or PvP chat, or use the Galactic Trade Network in-game.
