Developers on Steam now have a new set of data to consider when studying statistics for their existing Steam listings. Valve now displays new wishlist-driven statistics that break down the number of times a game has been wishlisted into either Windows, Mac, Linux, or unspecified platform categories.
Armed with the newly visible information, developers on Steam should now be able to make more informed decisions when planning out future sales and deciding whether or not port their titles to new platforms.
However, the platform selection isn't automatic on the customer's side so it is worth noting that the data won't paint a complete picture of per-platform interest.
Rather, Steam users will need to go into their Platform Preferences on Steam and tick a checkbox next to Windows, Mac OS X, or STeamOS/Linux to feed their platform information to developers.
