Paradox Interactive's sci-fi grand strategy title, Stellaris, has broken records to become the company's fastest selling game ever.

According to a Paradox press release, Stellaris has sold over 200,000 units since launching yesterday, breaking the revenue record for any of the the publisher's previous releases during the same period.

The game also broke records for the highest number of concurrent players, with over 68,000 users logging in at the same time on launch day.

It's the second big hit in as many years for Paradox, with the publisher's 2015 release, Cities: Skylines, racking up 1 million sales within two months of release, before going on to sell over 2 million copies in its first year

Stellaris breaks a lot of new ground for Paradox Development Studio. It is a type of game we have never attempted to do before," Henrik Fåhraeus, game director of Stellaris.
