How to Enable Chrome Autofill
You can quickly enable and disable autofill in Chrome. Here's how to turn it on for addresses and payment information.
-
Open Chrome and select the three-dot menu at the top right.
-
Select Settings.
-
Select Autofill and passwords on the left.
-
Select Payment methods.
-
Toggle on Save and fill payment methods.
-
Return to Autofill and passwords and then select Addresses and more.
-
Toggle on Save and fill addresses.
-
Close the Settings tab. Going forward, on most websites, you’ll get a prompt to autofill addresses and payment information.
If Chrome doesn't prompt you to autofill these details, it means either the website you’re on is not secure or the browser can’t detect the appropriate form fields.
Disabling Chrome Autofill
Turning off Chrome's autofill features is easy. Simply repeat the steps above, but toggle those options off instead of on.
Manage Chrome Autofill Settings
Over time, your Chrome autofill data will become outdated as your payment details, address, name, and other information change. It's also possible to save the wrong information by accident. Fortunately, it's easy to add, edit, and delete your autofill data.
-
Open the Chrome autofill options by opening the three dot menu in the corner and then selecting Settings > Autofill and passwords.
-
Select Payment methods > Add.
-
Input your credit or debit card details and then select Save.
-
Select the back button to return to the previous page, then select Addresses and more > Add.
-
Input an address and choose Save.
You can add as many addresses and cards as you want.
-
To edit a saved address, select three dots > Edit, then change the information and click Save. Click Delete from the menu to remove the autofill entry.
If you have syncing turned on, your address changes will show up on your other devices.
Update Payment Methods in Google Pay
If edit or you sync your payment methods with Google Pay, you’ll have to make the updates there.
-
Go to the Google Wallet page and log in to your Google account.
-
Select Add payment method to add a card to Chrome autofill.
-
To change the details for an existing payment method, select it from the list, choose Edit, make the changes, and then click Update. The changes will be reflected in Chrome automatically.
-
To delete a card, select it and then choose Remove.
Delete Chrome Autofill Data
Finally, you can delete all the saved addresses and payment methods in Chrome at the same time by clearing browsing data.
-
Press Ctrl+Shift+Del to open the Delete browsing data prompt.
-
Adjust the Time range if you want to. To erase all your autofill data, choose All time.
-
Select the Advanced tab and ensure Autofill form data is selected. You can choose other items to delete, too, but this one is necessary for clearing the Chrome autofill information.
-
Select Delete data.
This process will not delete cards stored in Google Pay.
