Newsbrief: In May 2015, Capcom said it expected to see worldwide Street Fighter V sales hit at least 2 million before the end of the financial year, which drew to a close on March 31, 2016.
Since launching in February, however, the game has sold 1.4 million copies -- or rather, 600,000 fewer copies than Capcom initially predicted.
Despite falling short, Capcom says the fighter is "maintaining steady sales," and believes the franchise remains a "perennial favorite" amongst fans.
Although Street Fighter V's gameplay was praised at launch, it was also criticized for a lack of single-player content and suffered from a number of online issues, including broken servers.
