Streets of Rage 4 is only a mere hours away from finally becoming available, as the game is scheduled to launch for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC(Steam) on Thursday the 30th of April; just the perfect way to wrap up the month.
Ahead of the game's highly anticipated release — at least amongst long-time fans of the beat 'em up genre, as well as the Streets of Rage series like myself — the developers have revealed a bunch of interesting details about the gameplay in Streets of Rage 4.
First things first, the developers have revealed that the game will be featuring 5 different levels of difficulty that they reassure are "easy to pick up, hard to master", and also reveal that the game's Story Mode has 12 stages that can be played either solo or in multiplayer.
As a proper beat 'em up game, Streets of Rage 4 is also including some assist options in order to help less experienced players actually play through the game with a little bit more ease; some of these being more lives and specials, although these can lower their score.
The developers do encourage more experienced players to try out Arcade Mode, which grants players just the one credit to finish the game's story — which is likely the one that long-time fans of the Streets of Rage series will find themselves playing the most.
Streets of Rage 4 really is a love letter to the iconic beat 'em up series, as well as a breath of fresh air for the genre in general, and fans are quite literally counting the seconds until the game finally becomes available. At least I know that I am, and I'm not ashamed to admit it; not in the slightest.
