Snake Pass developer Sumo Digital has kicked off the new year by acquiring CCP Games' Newcastle studio for an undisclosed fee.
CCP has been attempting to sell the UK studio for some time, with the EVE Online developer looking to step away from VR development and refocus.
The Newcastle outfit will become Sumo's fourth studio, joining its offices in Sheffield and Nottingham, along with its branch in Pune, India.
34 employees will remain in Newcastle to link up with Sumo as part of the deal, with former executive producer and studio head Owen O'Brien staying on as studio director.
"Sumo Digital is a great home for the team in Newcastle," said CCP Games CEO, Hilmar Veigar Pétursson.
"As we say goodbye to our former colleagues we know that they will do great things there, and we can’t wait to see what they do next."
