It was revealed earlier this month that Supercell and GungHo are joining forces to promote each other across their games. What didn't appear to make a huge amount of sense was why Supercell would want its games promoted in Japan, where it doesn't yet have any releases. Now the second half of the puzzle has been solved, as Supercell today announced that it has launched its hugely popular Clash of Clans free-to-play game in Japan. Supercell is already earning big bucks across its two big hitters Clash of Clans and Hay Day -- together, the titles are bringing in more than $2.4 million a day. With the launch of a Japanese version, Supercell is no doubt looking to pave its way in the lucrative Asian mobile game market -- and the cross-promotion with GungHo, whose Puzzle & Dragons game is pulling in more than $2.5 million a day on its own, will no doubt help it storm the Japanese top grossing charts. Gamasutra visited Supercell later last year to find out what exactly makes the studio's games so special.
