Mobile market research outfit App Annie has released its 2015 retrospective, shedding light on the most downloaded, and most lucrative, mobile games of the past 12 months.
According to the data, Subway Surfers, Candy Crush Saga, and Clash of Clans were the most downloaded games of 2015 on both iOS and Android, while EA, Gameloft, and King had more of their games downloaded on those platforms than any other company.
Financially speaking, Clash of Clans, Monster Strike, and Puzzles & Dragons brought in the most global revenue last year on iOS and Android, with Supercell, King, and Japanese developer Mixi bringing in the most revenue on a company-wide basis.
In terms of monthly active users, Candy Crush Saga finished top of the pile on both iPhone and Android phone, and Clash of Clans also finished in second place on both platforms. Taking third place on iPhone was another one of King's match-3 ventures, Candy Crush Soda Saga. On Android phone, however, Subway Surfers finished third.
Digging even deeper, Crossy Road was the most downloaded game on iOS and Android in the UK, although Clash of Clans was the biggest earner in that region.
Heading to the U.S., Etermax's competitive quiz 'em up, Trivia Crack, was the most downloaded title across iOS and Android, with Clash of Clans once again topping the revenue charts in the states.
We've cherry picked some of the more important top 10s below, but you can download App Annie's report right here for the full breakdown.
