Switch 2 breaks Nintendo records, sells 3.5m units globally in four days

Nintendo Switch 2 has sold over 3.5 million units worldwide, making it the highest selling Nintendo hardware within the first four days of release.

As noted by Nintendo, the sales figure also includes the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle, the Japanese-language system and multi-language system.

In comparison, the original Switch sold 2.7 million within the first month of release in 2017, as noted by Bloomberg.

Prior to launch, Nintendo forecast hardware sales of 15 million units and software sales of 45 million by March 2026. It also expects a 63% rise in net sales in this timeframe.

A recent report by Ampere Analysis also suggests that over 13 million players will purchase the Switch 2 in 2025.

"Fans around the world are showing enthusiasm for Switch 2 as an upgraded way to play at home and on the go," said Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser.

"We are thankful for their response and happy to see the fun they are already having with Switch 2 as they explore new features and games that bring friends and family together in new ways."
