Big changes are coming to Destiny's annual model as Bungie will deliver two Expansions and four major free content updates every year. It begins next year with Codename: Apollo

Amid the uncertainty surrounding the future of Destiny following layoffs at Bungie, the developer has taken to social media to assure fans they remain committed to the franchise.

Destiny 2 and Marathon developer Bungie has eliminated 220 roles at the company, or roughly 17% of the company's workforce. The layoffs come just months after the successful launch of The Final Shape.

According to a new report, the next Destiny game — NOT Destiny 3 — was known as codename Payback, and it was reportedly canceled well before the recent layoffs.

Today marks the release of Destiny 2: The Final Shape, but a cryptic tweet from Bungie Creative Director Luke Smith already has fans speculating about what will come next for the franchise.
