Well here is a nice surprise. The Evil Within 2 releases later today (in just an hour) and it appears that it will not be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. A small update was issued for the review build yesterday and from the looks of it, Denuvo isn’t present anymore.
Now we don’t know whether Denuvo was included by a mistake (a leftover perhaps) or intentionally. The point is that The Evil Within 2 will not be using it. And that’s undoubtedly great news for all PC horror fans.
To be honest, we are pleasantly surprised that a new game from Bethesda will not be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. After all, all previous Bethesda games used it (Dishonored 2, DOOM and PREY). So good call Bethesda.
Our PC Performance Analysis for The Evil Within 2 will go live later today (or tomorrow). Until then, you can watch the first 15 minutes from the PC version which will give you an idea of what you can expect – performance wise – from this new game.
In The Evil Within 2, players take the role of detective Sebastian Castellanos. Sebastian will have to descend once more into the nightmarish world of STEM in order to save his daughter.
