The PlayStation 4 Has Managed To Sell Over An Impressive 112 Million Units, Sony Recently Announced

The PlayStation 4 was initially announced in February of 2013, and was finally become available in stores in November of that year, and in Febuary of 2014 in Japan.

The console was a massive hit, especially after revealing that its price would be significantly lower than its direct competition.

In October of last year, it was revealed that the PlayStation 4 had become the second best-selling video game console in history — trailing behind the PlayStation 2(155 million units sold) — with over 102.8 million units sold as of the 30th of September.

Sony announced earlier today that the PlayStation 4 keeps selling like hot cakes, revealing that the popular current-gen console has already managed to sell well over 112.3 million units since its initial launch in November of 2013.

Now that the PlayStation 5 is just around the corner, and expected to become available at a yet-to-be-determined date this Holiday, it is very likely that sales will begin to slow down.

With that said, the PlayStation 3's life span ended in 2017, which is four years after the PlayStation 4 released.

Keeping that in mind, the PlayStation 4 still has a solid 2 or 3 years left before Sony eventually decides to pull the plug and decide to stop supporting the best-selling console. As a matter of fact, Sony has just announced a State of Play presentation that will focus on upcoming PlayStation 4 and PS VR titles, so we know that they are still supporting the console this year, at least.
