[Every week, Gamasutra rounds up the titles released for the major console and portable digital delivery services, as compiled by console digital editor Ryan Langley, including the latest XBLA and PSN games.] This is quite possibly the busiest week we've had this year -- Xbox Live Arcade gets four new releases and some stunning DLC, the PlayStation Stores are chock full of content, and Nintendo offers up 10 classic games in its Ambassador Program! If you can't find something to play this week, you may need medical attention. Xbox Live Arcade Okay, so this is probably the craziest day for Xbox Live Arcade games in a long, long time -- four brand new titles and two big pieces of DLC, and almost all of them look sweet. First up, Ace Team (creators of Zeno Clash) has relased its awesome looking ball roller Rock of Ages for 800MSP. Hothead is working its chops with their third title in the DeathSpank series, The Baconing, for 1200MSP. After Street Fighter III coming out last week, we've now also got Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, a collection of the first three MK titles for 800MSP. Lastly, we have Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon, a dual-stick co-op shooter based on the TV series for 800MSP. On the DLC side, we have a new Pinball FX 2 table based on Ms. Splosion Man for 240MSP. We also have the Storm Season DLC for Fruit Ninja Kinect, which adds new blades and backgrounds to the game for 160MSP, and the Worms 2: Armageddon "Forts Pack", which contains new single player levels and speech banks for 320MSP. Xbox Live Indie Games Summer Uprising
Ten Xbox Live Indie developers have banded together to bring players their A-games with the XBLIG Summer Uprising campaign. Five new games were released in the last week, so let's check them out! In Doom & Destiny, strange events bring four friends in a fantasy world made of cliche, strange people, and a lot of humor. Help them in the battle against the evil villain and to find their way home. Check out the trailer, or download the trial. Full game is 240MSP. Speedrunner HD is a super quick running game in which you use your grappling hook, walljump, and other acrobatic skills to dismantle bombs in time. The game also includes multiplayer for up to three players, which you can see in action in the trailer. Grab it today for 240MSP. Train Frontier Express brings back those memories of playing with a massive train set as a kid, as shown in the trailer. Lay down track, build your own giant set, and even ride your train around town. Check it out for just 240MSP! The last title is Chester, a somewhat bizarre take on the platforming genre. The game has you battling though five worlds as over 10 unique, level-upable Chester personalities. One of the more bizarre features is the ability to change the look of the entire game at a whim, including 8-Bit, LCD, Sketch, Blueprint, and other styles. Give the demo a shot, check out the trailer, or purchase it for 240MSP. PlayStation Store (North America)
An explosion of content this week, it's all kind of nuts. If you can't find something to play this week, there might be something wrong with you. This week starts off with Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection for $9.99, containing Mortal Kombat 1, 2 and Ultimate 3. If you want some action RPG in your veins, grab The Baconing, the third title in the DeathSpank series, for $14.99. If you want some weird looking dual-stick shooter action, grab Ugly Americans: Apocalypseageddon for $9.99. If you're into a reimagined classic, check out Elevator Action Deluxe for $9.99, or if you want some puzzling challenge, check out 4 Elements HD for $9.99. That's not all though -- two new games have also been added into the Neo Geo cabinet, Shock Troopers and World Heroes, each for $8.99. Two new Minis were also added, Snowy: The Bear's Adventures ($2.99) and Carnivores: Ice Age ($3.99). Lastly, one new piece of DLC: the Joan of Arc character for Deadliest Warrior: Legends for $2.99. PlayStation Store (Europe)
Nice, meaty week for games in Europe this week. First up, aptly, is The Baconing, the third DeathSpank title, for £9.99/€12.99, then comes puzzler 4 Elements HD for £6.29/€7.99. Square Enix's remake of Elevator Action is available as Elevator Action Deluxe for £7.99/€9.99, and TV Superstars is out for £14.99/€19.99. Two new Minis also join the fray, Left to Die in Zombhai (£2.49/€2.99) and Snowy: The Bear's Adventures (£7.99/€8.99). Nintendo Download (North America) The biggest news here is that Nintendo's Ambassador Program has launched, and those who purchased Nintendo's 3DS before its price drop are now eligible to receive ten free classic NES games on the system's Virtual Console service. Instructions for claiming the games are available here. Meanwhile WiiWare sees a tower defense game called Trenches Generals and the 3DS eShop gets the Game Boy version of Pac-Man. Nintendo Download (Europe) In addition to its own version of the Ambassador Program, Nintendo's European digital store gets a new DSiWare game called 1950s Lawn Mower Kids.
