To Meet Demand, Amazon Increases Kindle Fire Tablet Production By 'Millions'

Pre-orders for Amazon's upcoming game-playing Kindle Fire tablet appear to be higher than the company anticipated, as it announced Tuesday that it was increasing production. While no specific figures were provided, CEO Jeff Bezos told investors that "based on what we’re seeing with Kindle Fire pre-orders, we’re increasing capacity and building millions more than we’d already planned." The Kindle Fire, announced around one month ago, is an Android-based tablet that is the latest in the line of Amazon's Kindle line of e-reader devices. While games have been developed for Amazon's existing Kindles, the Fire is the first to use a full-color LCD screen. Games will be available through the Amazon Android App Store. Analysts project that the Fire may sell as many as 15 million units by the end of 2013.
